So, I’ve tried this blog thing before, but it has never
turned out as awesome as I had hoped… I see so many creative and intriguing
blogs, and I want mine to be that awesome too! My youth pastor’s wife from high
school has one of the best blogs (although she does have cute kids to post all
over it, which helps ;P) and I always enjoy reading and seeing everything she
posts, and sometimes wish my life had as much interesting and inspiring things
to write about! I tried starting one when I first got engaged, thinking I would
have enough creative things going on to post about, but I ended up having way
too much going on to keep up! Then my husband started blogging about such
profound thoughts, and then I was way behind and had to catch up again! So here
we are…
This blog has no set topics or criteria. I’m just going to
be writing about my life (when it’s interesting enough) and what inspires me.
My search to find a creative or catchy title for my blog was a pain. People say
I’m creative, but I truly, honestly have little creativity on my own. I have to
be inspired by something (mostly on Pinterest), or be divinely led by God to
come up with anything that seems creative or innovative… Most of the time I
just take ideas from what other people have done and put my spin on it. With
all that being said, I was trying to think of a title for my blog that would
best describe me and display the fact that my life can go no where without the
guidance of Christ… So I came up with the extremely creative name “Looking Up,”
right?! It’s creative, and no one has ever thought of it, right? WRONG… I typed
it into Google, and ministries, Christian bands, even probably some blogs have
already adopted this name! So I tried to come up with something more creative…
Anything that could somehow describe my life with Christ… I thought of
“Reaching Out to Him,” or “Following in His Footsteps,” which both would have
worked too, but neither of them seemed to have the punch and simplicity of
“Looking Up.”
It was then that I realized, who cares if someone else has
named their band or song or blog the same thing as me?! This name was the best
name for my blog, and it best described the way I want to live my life. When I
think about the phrase “looking up,” it paints the perfect picture of how we,
as Christians, need to be living our lives… No matter what may come on earth,
God is constant and faithful, and we should live our lives looking up to Him
for guidance and provision. Our world will never be perfect, but God is, and if
we keep our sights on Him, we will never be let down! I want to maneuver
through this life setting my sights on The One who created me and gave me life
in the first place! He is the reason I do all that I do, and I want this blog
to reflect His love through my life, even when I make posts about fun crafts or
silly stories… Everything I do should still reflect the love of Christ, and as
long as I’m doing that, it’s okay if I don’t have the most creative or best
looking blog, although that could be nice too ;)
